Illegal Reentry after Deportation

Illegal Reentry after Deportation

If an immigrant returns to the United States without permission after having been previously deported, he or she could very likely face federal criminal charges.  Many of my clients have been surprised to find out that it is a criminal act to re-enter the United States without permission–a felony–after having been deported by the United States government in the past.  Because re-entry after deportation is a serious charge (carrying possible penalties of up to several years in prison) it is very important if someone you know has been charged with illegally re-entering the United States to consult with an attorney immediately to plan for the most effective defense available.
