The Fourth Amendment Right to be Free From Illegal Searches & Seizures

The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

This amendment establishes the procedures government entities must use when exercising coercive law enforcement powers, and it also establishes the privacy rights of everyone present in the United States, citizen and non-citizen alike.

Lessons from the Past

Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers. It may not be difficult to store up in the mind a vast quantity of facts within a comparatively short time, but the ability to form judgments requires the severe discipline of hard work and the tempering heat of experience and maturity.
